Work and Holiday visa (subclass 462) or Working Holiday visa (subclass 417)

This temporary residence visa is for young adults who wish to take an extended holiday and to work in Australia to fund it.  You will only be eligible if you are a passport holder for certain countries.  An education requirement applies to the subclass 462 visa but not the subclass 417 visa.

Once this visa is granted, you can:

• Stay in Australia for 12 months and do short-term work to help fund your holiday
• Study for up to 4 months
• Travel to and from Australia while your visa is valid
• Do 3 or 6 months of specified work to become eligible for a second or third visa of the same subclass, respectively
