This temporary residence visa is for genuine tourists, business visitors or those who wish to visit their family in Australia. Choosing the right stream depends on the purpose of your visit.
Once this visa is granted, you can:
- Stay in Australia for up to 12 months
- If you are tourists – be in Australia as a tourist for a cruise or for purposes other than business or medical treatment.
- If you are business visitor – make general business or employment enquires, negotiate contracts or take part in a conference or trade fair (without getting paid by the organisers)

I would like to seek an advice re: my mums visa (tourist SC 600)
Grant date 30 Aug 2022
Visa expiry date : 29 FEb 2024
Multiple entries to and from AU during the validity of visa
period of stay 12 months on each arrival
Condition - 8588- Cannot stay more than 12 months in any 18 month period
* 1st entry : from 9 NOVember 2022 to 23 april 2023 (5 months 15 days)
2nd entry : from 11 MAY 2023 to 22 to 20 October 2023 (5 months 9 days)
My queries:
1. If she flies into Australia on 26 Feb 2024, can I apply for a new visa for her on that date of her arrival back to Australia?
2. What options do we have for her to stay longer and remain lawful here in Australia? what kind of visa and duration should i apply for her (we plan for her to stay her for another 6 months or more maybe)
